Shower Enclosure Seal
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.10 PM
Hello, I have a shower enclosure that looks alright still apart from the plastic/rubber type seal which goes the whole way under each panel of glass. I don't mean the removable strip seal at the bottom on the shower door. I mean the permanent seal under each panel off glass just above the shower tray. It's looking old and stained yellow. Is there anyway to clean it or renew it without changing the whole shower enclosure? Many thanks.

Hi, i think u need to remove the enclosure, and just take off old sealant, then put new ones back, or fit back the encloser, after do with clear silicone sealant.

Hi, Both rubber and silicone seals can be cleaned up really well if you use household bleach with a few strips of kitchen paper roll. Pour the bleach over the rubber/silicone and then put the strips of kitchen roll over the bleached rubber/silicone. This is to help keep the bleach on the affected areas. Leave over night. Then dispose of the kitchen roll strips and wash down the rubber/silicone thoroughly. This works for mouldy silicone as well.

If it is the silicone sealant that is at fault there is no need to remove the cubicle it just needs raking out & resealing approximately 1 hrs work
