Should my toilet be installed like this?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.10 PM

My downstairs loo has a boxed in bit on the floor at the side of the cistern. Over the years I’ve noticed little bits of water on the floor but couldn’t never find where it was coming from. Today I was washing my floors and the boxed in part fell away from the wall and to my horror the floor under it is soaking but more concerned that it was been to cover the pipe which isn’t behind the pan and looks as tho as if it’s connected with a tumble dryer hose, is this right? The hose goes from the back of my pan along to a grey thing which has been cemented into the floor and been covered with the boxed in bit.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yea that would sound right my bigger concern would be the leak as that water running across your floor could be raw sewage. The pipe is a flex waste from your pan to your outside waste drain. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=flexi+toliet+was+pip&client=safari&hl=en-gb&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjXsfPEk43qAhXySRUIHWHKCJ8Q_AUoAnoECA4QAg&biw=375&bih=553#imgrc=JfP_tPbz0fz8SM

The pipe you think is a tumble dryer pipe is a flexible pan conector which is right from what I understand of the question The leak will be from one of two things when the toilet is getting flushed or a drip for one of the pipes close or connecting to it You would probably be best to get a plumber to come and look to source the problem out

A flexible pan connector is perfectly fine to use but just check it’s seated on the pan correctly and the the flanged end is inte a piece of soil pipe and not just into a elbow or tee as this leaves a loose fit and can leak over time
