How far away from house can patio begin, in order not to worry about DPC.

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.10 PM

Hi, I'm currently digging out for a patio and wondered how far away the patio needs to start away from for house for me not to worry so much about the DPC level. I really don't think I'm going to be able to dig down far enough for slabs to be 150mm below the DPC and so thought about starting further out with a wider edge of pea shingle.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

150 mm below dpc and keep 20mm shingle gap at the house to act as a soak away

If you don't think you will dig down to 150mm below DPC, If the patio is running away from house then i would put a grave channel at list 150 mm or more if you can and at least 300mm deep, If the patio is coming back to house then I would use ACO Drain and make sure it go's into a drain.

Try and keep to 150mm down from d p c if not put in a aco drain or pea shingle to act as a soak away
