Erection of a covered walkway .
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.10 PM
I would like to have a tradesman build a covered walkwat with glass roof insets The walkway would lead from the path outside my back door door to my shed. I have installed a wash room in my shed and want to reach it in all weathers thus the walkway . Would a joiner be the right trade to build the walkway or would it be a joiner or builder and glazier ?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Nancy you would need a carpenter to construct the walkway and roof who could then install the glazing but I would recommend polycarbonate roof sheets as they are cheaper to buy. Are you looking for walls to totally enclose it ?

A joiner to construct the roof and erect the walkway . Then normally a glazier to install the glass.
unless it's a modern frameless type roof . They are normall on a metal support structure

A Competent person could fit/make it.
A joiner, Carpenter, Builder and Window fitter all could be very able.
I liked the last answer polycarbonate Sheeting!
It’s cheap and more flexible!
Sticking glass high in the air!
And wooden framed without some sort of calculations against weight and wind factors! Would not be a good idea! If you was to go with glass,I’d use a steel frame instead.
But it all comes down to cost!!!!!!!!

It's basically ok but I would want to know why they wanted glass.
