Temporarily removing toilet and sink to re tile
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.30 PM
We are looking to re tile our bathroom but keep the current suite! Is there an easy trick to ensure the sink/ toilet doesn’t get damaged when removing the seal from the wall?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

There is no easy trick to complete the removal successfully, completion of this requires experience and good workmanship.

Use a Stanley knife to cur the silicone first and then unscrew it underneath, it should come away easy then. Obviously after disconnecting the water supply and waste.

Make sure you isolate the water supply before removing anything, flush the toilet so the cistern is drained down (will just be easier to move rather than be filled with water) then undo any connections going into the toilet and sink etc, don't be alarmed there will be a tiny bit if water remaining in the pipe work. Use a Stanley knife to remove any silicone and the job should be a Gooden.

If the cistern is silicone sealed to the wall, a bit of wd40 and a Stanley blade would help.
