Rain water coming in to home?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.30 PM
Live in a 100+ year old mid terrace, noticed after extremely heavy rainfall, upstairs window potentially leaking but not sure if it is window or something around the window. Also ground floor, rain water potentially coming under front door and possibly through brick work, can this happen? No evidence of flooding outside just heavy rainfall. What trade would we arrange to come and look and help us sort it? Front facing rooms of the house, very weather beaten, planning on getting new windows but worried this won't solve the problem.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there it sounds like the rain water is tracking in through a number of possible ways.
This could be running down from areas of the roof.
Or the perp joints in your brickwork have got old and blown allowing moisture to track in.
Until taking a in depth look this is all I can suggest for now
Thanks Matt Rundle

I suggest you getting the guttering looked at also you may just need your Window resealed and some pointing done around it until you get new frames fitted and a rain deflector fitted to the bottom of the door May be helpful but get an expert to check.
