Cracks on interior and exterior walls

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.30 PM

I'm starting to get cracks on my interior and exterior walsl after 2 years. Interior wall - I believe there was no PVA applied to the breeze blocks nor any plasterboards were fitted and it was skimmed staight on top of the breeze blocks. Does the blocks need to be bonded too? In order to prevent further cracks in future would It make sese to fit plasterboards to the block, cover it with mesh and then skim it? For the exterior rendered wall, there are more deeper cracks. Would the same fibre glass mesh do the job and then platstered or are there specifc exterior meshes avialble for this? Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, if the property is a new build, I would take it up with the builders as you should be covered by their guarantee.

Hi you would need to check it’s not a foundation problem, if it’s a new house could be a bit of settlement better to report it to the builder and the NIBHC. Just to have it recorded.
