Damp Proofing

Had a chap round who called himself 'A damp proofing specialist'

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.52 PM

he came to cure a problem with penetrative damp up the side of patio doors. As far as I can tell he has drilled 8 holes approx 6 inches apart vertically and that's it, the holes are still there to a depth of nearly 3 inches. I know that they should be capped off with mortar. The question is how do we tell if he has sprayed anything at all into the holes?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

how much did you pay this joker lol probably coming in from bad sealant to doors anyway, never heard of them drilling vertical holes, most common are along the existing damp then cream should be injected then capped off ,then all plaster re-done internally up to 1m ,i would take back old sealant to doors and brickwork and re-do that sounds more likely to be your problem

I'm afraid that these vertical drill holes are a waste of time. Usually the damp proofing creams look like 'mayonaise' if it helps, and the holes should be plugged. Hope you didn't pay him anything... Regards Scott.
