Outdoor house alarm goes off, not connected to mains

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.30 PM

During a thunder storm earlier tonight the outdoor bell box alarm went off, though it is not connected to the main power in the house (we tried switching it off just to double check). That alarm is no longer in use, so we would really like the bell box to stop as well. The alarm goes off for about 30ish seconds, before switching itself off (as there is nothing connecting it to the inside). What do we need to do, and is it something we can do ourselves?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi they have a battery inside for back up, so check to make sure no mains power,If no mains power you can Just remove cover (alarm will go off) but remove battery and then you can remove old bell box

I would advise you to connect the security system engineer. I think he is the right person that could help you to deal with this issue. Thanks

Unusual for the battery in the bell box to remain charged up without back up mains. Maybe it's only recently been disconnected inside the house. If this is the case then take the cover off, snip the wires off the battery to shut the siren up and then remove the box. There's no mains in the outside box so you should be able to do this yourself
