Laminate worktops - loss of gleem due to solvent

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.30 PM

Hi, I have just had a brand new kitchen fitted and we found some hot glue on our new work tops. The builder managed to remove the glue with solvent but it has left what can only be described as “rub marks” around where the glue was due to using the solvent. We have grey sparkly laminate work tops and they now have a shiny patch on them. Is there anything I can do to blend this back in to the rest of the work top?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi I am afraid that when solvent takes the surface off the Laminate and marks it there is little that can be done to reverse this dependant on how much is damaged however,You could try 1/2 cup of white vinegar with half a cup of warm water and a couple of teaspoons of baby oil mix and try to buff whole area with a damp cloth. Hope this helps
