Corregated Roof
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.29 PM
Hello I have bought a house which has a full-length garage, which has a relatively new corrugated metal roof which is in great condition. My partner would like to convert half of the garage into 1 or 2 rooms which makes perfect sense; what I don't know is whether the roof will need to be replaced to allow the stud walls to be installed. Thanks

Its not any reason to replace the roof the stud work it's got nothing to do with the roof

Actually forming new partitions (walls) in your garage are not directly related to your corrugated roof but;
Considering your idea adding of new rooms, it's important to make sure the existing roof is watertight; no leakage. In this case replacing your corrugated roof with a proper roof might strongly be a good idea.
You'd better to have a viewing with a builder for surveying, helps a more reliable solution.

If the rooms are going to be lived in a metal roof will create condensation everything will get damp.Also if the walls are single skin they would need to be insulated to be habitable.

There is no need to remove the roof sheets. The stud work and any insulation can all be fitted from the inside
