External finish for new extension and new porch

I am planning to build a new extension and re-build my porch. The extension is done via planning permission and the porch is permitted development. My architect has advised me to match the finish of the extension and porch with the existing. I currently have pebble dash rendering and I am not very keen on doing pebble dash rendering. What are my options here?

Regarding the pebble dash finish can be matched alternatively by a smooth rendered and painted.
Unless it is a planning condition for you to match the pebble dash or in a conservation area(maybe not in consevation area as you PD rights). Please always check the planning approval notice for conditions and also notes that are also on the plans and application submitted. Sometimes might be worth speaking to the planning department to get free advice. Hope that helps.

You don’t really need pebble dash it is a old style so you could do your porch however you like but the best one will be if you do brick work that will look nice the colour of the brick you can choose

I do not think that anyone really likes pebble dashed finish it is really dated and I my self have never been keen on it ,given the choice I would find a good brick match or use a smooth render finish, this being said the finishes on frontage of property's may need stay in keeping with the other houses in that area.

Check with your local Building Control Office that their aren’t any “conditions” attached to your approval notes.
I wouldn’t pebble dash the new builds, it was a trend dating back to the 1950’s and is not permeable to air as usually contains ordinary Portland cement, which doesn’t allow your walls to “breath”
look around locally and choose a nice suitable brick for the outer skin.
Also, block & brick can work out less in money terms and once it’s built, it’s done, you don’t have to then, wait for a pebble dash company to, price and fit you in around the weather.
