Foam behind wallpaper

Hi all, Been stripping wallpaper and found a very thin foam (less than 1mm) Behind 80s wallpaper. Seems to be a lining paper of some sort? Any idea what this is an should I get it tested for asbestos? Heard stories about canal wallpaper? Update: it is that plasticky Shiny really thin foam like packaging wrapping (not the bobbly polystyrene) if it make a difference

Yes you should test for asbestos you could find out it is just insulation of some kind but better to be safe than sorry

Thin layer of polystyrene was used back in the 80s/90s. Offers a little insulation and stops condensation on outside walls. Also good for covering rough and cracked walls.

If it's the polystrene insulation I would be more concerned with fire risk, or rather toxic fumes produced if there was a fire. I wouldn't think it's an asbestos product but if you are unsure its better to have it checked.

No this is a form of insulation or sound proofing
.kotina is a trade name there are various different ones .it is used to combat mould from cold coming through external walls .

I think it’s polystyrene to insulate walls seen it before
It was sold in rolls like lining paper
