Leveling garden to reduce step out of the house.

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.49 PM

my garden is very uneven. it is high at the back and low near the house. there is a step at least 2.5 bricks out of the patio. can i raise the level next to the house to lay a patio and help level the entire garden?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can’t raise the level next to the house any higher than the dpc height or you would get dampness in the house

They're is a lot of opinions on this according to building control all patios should be 150mm 2 bricks below door threshold, most new build houses with bifold doors are laid level with door threshold to continue tile look ,but leave 100mm of pea shingle against the rest of the property as a french drain is the terminology. I take it I will not be higher than the door or you wont be able to get out .
