2 way 2 gang wiring - both lights won’t turn on at the same time

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.49 PM

Does anyone know what the issue could be? Both lights turn on and off but only if the other switch next to it for the other light is off and both lights won’t turn on at the same time. The wires are different colours on each switch - one brown, grey and black and on the other side it’s red, yellow, blue and black. Thanks

You will need an electrician to come and test the cables and put it right I'm afraid. No one can talk you through this over the phone or on this message page.

Hi louise. It sounds to me like when the initial installation was terminated they have got the permanent live and the switched lives mixed up. So when one light switch is off it no longer has a permanent live to power the other light. It is a easy issue to solve with no damage. I would be happy to sort it for you if you would like to Have a nice day.
