My dishwasher won't turn on and as it's built into kitchen units I can't access the plug. What should I do?

Normally with built in kitchen appliances there is a switched fused spur mounted above the kitchen worktop. Its possible that the fuse inside this spur has blown? When a fuse blows, its normally for some reason though so the dishwasher may have developed a fault. Your best bet is to get an appliance electrician in to carry out some diagnostic tests and see what the problem is.

Hi there, There is always a way for everything, anything is possible. There should be two or more screws in the front of the dishwasher supporting it to your kitchens base units, once you have removed these screws the dishwasher should pull out. Then you should have full and easy access to your plug. Many Thanks. Mike (KDM Plumbing And Heating)

If the electrician who installed the electrical point for the integrated appliance was decent, he should have installed a double pole isolator for this appliance to control the single socket/flex outlet which is inaccessible behind the appliance. If this is the case then the fuse may have gone in that isolator. If you don't have switched isolators above your worktop then check your kitchen units as it may be inside one. If he didn't do what I have described above then you are going to have to unscrew all the fixings for the appliance and pull it out to access the fuse.
