Old Gas heaters removed, what to do with remaining holes
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.32 PM
I had old gas heaters removed (x3) and central heating installed but have been left with a hole in the wall with a metal flue going through to the outside wall. I have temporarily stuffed these with insulation to prevent drafts but how do I go about sealing these? Does someone need to do brickwork or can they be plaster boarded over internally?

Hi Karen,
I presume you have a cavity wall.
The outside will need to be bricked in and the inside also bricked in but plastered. There should be a gap between the brickwork ( cavity) to prevent damp.

I would say it needs to be bricked up properly that will stop water getting in and causing damp
