Replacing regular boiler with System boiler
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.32 PM
I’m due an upgrade to our existing boiler, which is circa 15 years old. Aiming to relocate from downstairs kitchen to 1st floor bathroom, to free up space, will still be on a rear wall and easily 1m away from bath/shower. Also water and gas already fed up there for existing water cylinder. The current boiler uses an invented indirect water cylinder and expansion tank from the loft hatch. We may convert this loft Hatch in the future to a loft bathroom. The house is 3/4 bed and 2 bathrooms (could be an extra shower room in future) 15-18 Rads over 3 floors. 1. Does it make sense to choose a system boiler over a regular boiler ? Are there any Other benefits 2. Are there any other pros/cons other than losing the need for the upstairs (small) water tanks ? Are System boilers less reliable ? 3. Can I retain existing water cylinder - Santon unvented Indirect cylinder? 4. What size boiler should I be considering ? Appreciate any views or feedback. Best Regards AS
