Insulation

freezing cold sunroom! boiling in the summer, cold in the winter. 2/3's of it is glass (which we have replaced with planitherm) but it's still cold.

hi there, i'm about to decorate a sunroom but it's so cold in the winter, that we're going to address these issues first. The room is approx 18 m2 and the roof/ceiling is sloped both inside and out so there's not much space for insulation. there are down lights in the sloping ceiling. i removed a down light to see what the insulation configuration was, and there is 50mm kingspan running over the top of the joists (is that called a warm roof?) the draught and cold air coming through the cutout of the downlight was immense......is this normal? Do i solve the draught problem and keep the kingspan as it is, or remove the original kingspan, and fit new kingspan between the joists? Am desperate to solve the problem but dont know which way to turn! I am a novice at this sort of thing so any help (simpler the better) will be gratefully received!! thanks

You could install a multi foil reflective insulation as an extra. You will need to check with the manufacturing companies where the due point will be to reduce condensation. You also may be loosing heat through the floor, may need insulation too.

You might even consider putting in under floor heating, this would depend on the existing flooring. DB Handyman

The main decision to make when insulating a pitched roof is if you are going to have a warm roof or a cold roof. underfloor heating go to be good way of solveing problems
