Uncontainable leaks, want to avoid cowboy plumbers

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.32 PM

Hi I know that when hiring a plumber, or any contractor for that matter, the general advice is that the decent ones are booked up weeks/months in advance. The leaks took me by surprise, therefore I need a quick one. I've had some recommendations, and visits but they have visited and not got back to me. How do I avoid getting a cowboy plumber when I need one in a hurry for uncontainable leaks? Many thanks

I always advise customers that if they are struggling to find a good tradesman and have to use an emergency tradesman that it is good practice to ask if they have been trading long what type of work do they generally carry out and if it is a larger job then please don’t be afraid to ask for references and see if they have insurance and any guarantees . You may pay slightly more but you’ll get peace of mind knowing they are professionals and the job will get done properly.
