Plumbing

Running washing machine hose behind an oven.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.32 PM

Hi I'm hoping to move my washing machine out of my kitchen and in to an adjacent boiler cupboard. Currently it is connected by the standard cold water in and wast water out hoses. If i where to just extend these hoses and run them behind the oven through the wall would this be safe? I estimate the new hoses would be a bout 5m long? Many thanks Tim

It depends how close your oven is to the pipe, the size of pipe, and how hot your oven back gets. Definitely use copper pipes behind the oven, you can connect copper to PVC in multiple ways, even simply with the right push-fit connector.

You would be better off getting a plumber to extend the copper pipe and insulate it for you to protect it.

as long as you protect them from coming into contact with cooker services will be ok,water service no problem, but pumped out waste water may be due to distance ,check with machine manufacture as to distance you can extend waste hose.
