I am having my bathroom re modelled, however the soil pipe is in the way. Can it be shortened and a valve be put on?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

I have taken the water tank out of the cupboard next to the bathroom and intend to change it into a walk in shower. However the soil pipe is in the way and makes the entrance to the intended shower tight. The pipe goes right up through the roof, can I shorten the soil pipe? Thank you.

The soil pipe can be shortened and fitted with an anti-vacaum device (Durgo). However do not shorten soil pipe lower than the top of the toilet cistern as durgo will not operate correctly and if soil becomes blocked you may never know till its too late. The durgo also needs air to operate as it is an Air Admitance Device so do not restrict the air flow to it.
