Will bathroom radiator that is linked to hot wate circuit still work on combi system

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

Hi I currently have a conventional boiler that is being changed next week to a combi boiler. At the moment the radiator in my bathroom is linked to the hot water circuit so is on whenever my water is heating, what will happen to this radiator when I change over to a combi boiler next week? Will it only work when the heating is on or will it stop working altogether? Many thanks

this was quite common with conventional systems it allowed you to heat towels in summer when central heating was not on,your heating engineer will need to change pipework to connect it to heating pipework.

If your changing over to a combi boiler, your hot water is going to be instant. This means that your radiator will heat up when you run the hot water through your house.

If you are removing the hot water cylinder and solely having a combi boiler the radiator will only work when the heating is on as with every other radiator in the house. It was also need plumbed into the heating loop.

The answer is it will not run independently with Hot Water from a Combi Boiler. This will be reconnected or piped up to come on with the Central Heating Circuit, as the Hot Water is Direct and instantaneous. However, you could incorporate Motorised Valves and setup the Combi to run 2 Circuits. A bit more installation & materials but you can have the option. So Yes & No is your answer. . .
