How to fix wired smoke alarm to plasterboard ceiling?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.56 PM
We have had a re-wire and had some smoke alarms wired in. They weren't connected to the ceiling so that it could be painted. It's all been painted now and I want to fix the smoke alarms to the ceiling but they are plasterboard and I don't want to just screw them in if they will crumble the plaster and fall down. How are they best being fixed to the ceiling?

Use raw-plugs. It will hold much stronger especially if theres any vibration from anyone walking on the upper floor.

Hello, plasterboard fixings would be your best bet, and ensure you use a good quality one to withstand movement from your upstairs floor as well as compatible screws.
