Shed, Concrete base, Damp proof membrane??

I'm laying a concrete base onto Soil... well compacted soil. Do I need to put a damp proof membrane down? I thought A DPM was only needed for inside concrete jobs? My neighbour is laying a concrete shed base too and he mentioned a DPM. Is there any requirement for it? or can I set the concrete straight down onto the soil? Cheers.

Yes put a visqueen damp course down or the concrete floor of your shed will be permanently damp.... so for what it’s worth just do it!

I Would recommend putting a dpm (1000 or 1200gauge polythene would be sufficient) under your shed base as it will help prevent your concrete base becoming damp.

Best to use the dpm as the soil will draw some of the water from the concrete which can cause it to crack .And damp can rise through it if not used.

No u will bridge damp proof as it will rise through the concrete you will need to protect the bricks above the damp course and below the dpc to stop rising damp
