Water in toilet gurgling / bubbling

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.10 PM

Hi - I have wall hung toilet with concealed cistern and push button flushes. Everything is working fine it seems, just the water keeps kind of swallowing / gurgling and also bubbles. In the past, if the water had kept running like this, I would push one of the flush buttons lightly and it would stop. If I do this now, the bubbling and water running stops for a minute or so, then starts again. Any ideas? Thank you!

It may be that the valve which releases the water from the cistern when flushed may be partially blocked. I would check the outlet inside the cistern for limescale or debris.

If its water bubbling in the pan the its more than likely the vent pipe is either blocked or has an air admittance valve that is faulty and needs replacing.

Unlikely to be the flush valve letting by with the symptoms you describe. Sounds like an overflow due to the fill valve not closing. Could be a combination of both if you've had trouble with the flush valve in the past but the fact that you get it to stop & the shortly after it starts up again tells me it's now a faulty fill valve & it needs overhauling.
