Vinyl on top of Cermaic Tiles??
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.10 PM
Can I have vinyl flooring laid on top of ceramic flooring tiles of they're level? If not, what the best/cheapest way to do this? Can I use underlay to help or does it need some sort of plywood to level it off correctly. This is a fix up job until we completely re-do the bathroom next year. Many thanks :)

Hi The best thing to do is use a feather to fill between grout lines to smooth it over before laying vinyl

Hi. You can put the vinyl on top but the grout lines will show through eventually. Best way to solve the issue is to use the correct latex to smooth out the lines and once dry lay the vinyl.

Yes you can lay over ceramics tiles assuming the tiles and stuck solid with no movement and then latexed over with latex that has a built in primer or you prime before wait to dry and then latex over.

The floor would need priming prior to latex or the latex would crumble in time.
