Is it easy to get rid of tiled fireplace in favour of wall mounted one?

Anonymous user 13/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

my current fire is gas and i want to remove all of the tiles and put in a wall mounted electrical fire because i will be renting it out and less hassle to service annually

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

yes you can put a wall mounted fire on the chimney breast if you remove the fireplace brick and plaster it all up and run a lead with a plug on it and plug it into a socket that way you dont have to have an electrition to do the job

For safety, have a Gas Safe engineer cap off the gas supply first. Then it is a matter of removing the existing tiles, bricking up and plastering the opening, and mounting the electric fire to the wall. This is a good choice when you are renting out the property: less liability.
