How to screw a bracket into wall where the bracket screw holes are large
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.29 PM
I am attempting to fix a plastic bracket into a wall that has a small shelf that a security cam will sit on. The issue is that the bracket has 2 holes for attaching that are very large diameters. In fact they are 16mm diameter. I only need a small thread screw for the wall, maybe m4, and quite short, but I need the equivalent of a large screw head to secure the bracket. I don't think these exist. Is there some solution that you can suggest that will allow me to screw this to the wall?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi
Try using an m5 penny washer probably 25mm by the sounds of it, this will prevent the screw slipping through the hole :)

I would attempt to try drill fresh hole with 6mm masonary drill bit and use a red raw plug or if you wanted to use same hole use chemfix fitting

You could simply use 4x25mm penny washers ( use stainless for outside applications ) . Not sure what size or how heavy this camera is but I would check manufacturers fitting instructions to make sure the screw sizes you intend to use are correct .
