Replacing a 10.4kw cooker with a 10.6kw with 45amp fuse rating
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.49 PM
I have a 10.4kw cooker at the moment that keeps tripping the MCB due to faulty elements I believe. The cooker has a 32amp fuse and the other socket has a coffee maker plugged in (13amp fuse). The MCB is 40amp. Can I replace this cooker with a rangemaster that is 10.6kw with a fuse rating of 45amp? Are there any changes I need to make during install? Anything to be aware of

A few things to be aware of...
1. What size is the cable feeding it.
2. Is it protected by an RCD
3. Diversity can be applied to this
4. I would not call this a diy job
5. Advise an electrician to connect it up.

I'm not going into detail, Deacon is right in what he says.
If you have a cooker plate with a switch for the oven and a combined socket you are pushing the circuit to it's limit running a coffee maker as well.
You really need an electrician to look at it in order to give accurate advice.
A 10mm is most definitely needed from the fuse board to the cooker though.

You need an electrician to carry out design calculations for you or you might melt something.

With diversity and cooker switch you can put your rangemaster on a 32amp mcb with 6mm cable running. So I wouldn’t worry about the rest. That would work perfectly fine.
