for the last 2 weeks we have had a poo smell in the kitchen very strong were it as made us feel ill.i have had a plummer out all the drains are clear used a cctv to check for any damage.than i told him there used to be a toilet down stairs in the corner of the kitchen which was removed about 40 years ago when we had the kitchen extended the plummer did find the old pipe work all cracked under the house he as fitted a plunge plug at the end which comes into the main drainage system we are still smelling this odour who would i need to get out to remove the old pipe work please
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
Probably need a decent plumber to find the issue. Maybe a more experienced one or try a drainage company. Normally smells come up the pipe into the house through incorrect waste plumbing of no u bends or where the u bend has been by passed. Also check the waste traps to see no parts have been removed. Showers are common issues where people have removed the top cap which can cause the water trap to allow smells into the house.

Sounds to me that it’s backing up and possibly the plunge plug has failed the old pipe work needs to be removed and properly blocked off
Get a drainage contractor as opposed to a plumber. I would recommend a proper CCTV survey so that the drainage can be reviewed by the contractor or a groundworks company, either on a DVD or as simple as uploading to Youtube which is what our drainage engineers do. Go forward from there as to what pipework is considered 'dead legged' and should be permanently disconnected and capped with concrete.

First answer I agree with. But I'd say from my experience that the wrong drainage has been installed under ground somewhere along the line.. Current drainage from main sewer needs to be traced back to every toilet and waste pipe you have. There's definitely some wrong drainage installed as if installed properly you should never have that kind of smell in your home. Maybe try and break through where old toilet used to be could be a case of it not have been capped off properly. Seems a bit extreme but I'd start there.
