LOW HOT WATER PRESSURE

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.48 PM

Dear MyBuilder, Hi, Please can you give me some advice... I've just had a new bathrooms fitted (upstairs/downstairs) and put a mixer shower tap in on the bath and sinks. The cold water pressure is really good, but the hot water is NOT SO GOOD. The boiler is only 1 months old, but not a combi its a Vailant 418 Regular. It is in the kitchen, but the hot water tank is in loft and hot water tank in airing cupboard. Is there anyway to improve the hot water pressure to improve the shower strength and taps in sink and kitchen? PLEASE HELP, can anyone give a solution ? THANK YOU, Abi

A pump could be fitted to improve pressure but your system needs to be viewed to suggest the correct system required

Hi there, You have 2 options 1. Install shower pump on the showers only as the shower pumps work best close to the outlet. But you have the down side of the noise and position the pump near the shower might be difficult. 2. Install unvented cylinder and you will have the same presure in all the house on cold and hot. You will loose the big tank in the loft so more space for storage. Please check with a qualified and registered installer before deciding. He will need to register the installation with building control therefore give you the certificate. Before you are making a decision you need to test your cold water debit. The unvented hot water cylinder is working well at 20l/min.

Get an unvented cylinder fitted and take a balanced cold to the shower from the inlet set.

Hi, single pump fitted on hot flow will do the trick. Shower Power Booster | Fully Automatic Quiet In Line Pump | Double your flow! your hot feed is most probably 22mm pipe but pump fits 15mm as well . cheers. steve
