Hi Lauren,
I would say that in most cases it would be the customer who would pay for skip hire/rubbish removal. This is something that should be detailed in the quote you are given by the tradesman so you are aware of this cost from the off. Hope this helps!

the customer whether its included in the quote and the tradesman hires it or its not included and the customer hires it, the cost is borne by the customer after all its your rubbish the tradesman didn't bring it with him.

Customer either pays and orders it directly or the tradesman adds the price to his quote? Rubbish clearance should be part of the quotation though.

We order and organise it for the customer but we charge them what it would cost as we get the better rates and then we organise for it to be collected when its full.

regarding skip hire.... if you have a good tradesperson these finer details along with other areas of concern and would have been agreed between client and contractor, and written down in the initial quote

The tradesman! The cost of waste removal and site clearance is always part of the job!
Maybe he has under priced the job and wants to put the cost on you... in 42 years in the building industry I have never heard of the customer having to pay and hire their own skip for a builder that’s doing a job for them.... hope this helps

Normally the waste disposal is included as part of the contracted works, ie. The tradesman would include this within his price and organise this and pay for this themselves. This is normally shown within their original quotation to the customer.
Currently however, due to the Covid lockdown, the waste materials maybe left for the customer to deal with at a later date because skips and waste materials cannot be disposed of or cleared away that easily as few companies are operating this collection service.
If the price for the removal of the waste is included as part of the quotation and the tradesman leave it for the customer to deal with then make sure that the monies / costs for this are deducted from the original price being paid to the tradesman to cover this at a later date.
I hope this helps.
