Hot water to shower cutting off

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.31 PM

Hi, the hot water flow to my mixer shower, from combi boiler keeps cutting out. I have changed the shower assuming that was the problem but that didn’t help. What I have noticed is that when the shower is running, the green light from boiler is lit then turns out. The shower starts to run cold and the boiler makes a clicking sound but does not reinstate the hot water to shower nor does the green light come back on. I’m due a service but BGas are not booking services in at the moment. UPDATED: I’ve just tested the hot water on kitchen tap, that cut out after running hot for 3.45 minutes. Boiler is Worcester green star 24i if that help. Many thanks in advance!

Couple of options: Mains pressure to the house is too low causing boiler to cut out. Or Flow sensor in boiler working incorrectly......or other issue with boiler (lots of potential issues).

Potential blocked plate heat exchanger or faulty flow turbine. get a gas safe Registered engineer to come out and diagnose the problem.

Most likely, at the specified temperature setting, the boiler is not able to dispose of the heat quickly enough, as the blender valve restricts the water flow from the boiler, sequentially causing it to and cut out. Try to change the temperature of the hot water at the boiler to see if it solves the problem. It could be a possibility that and a combination of other faults could be causing this issue, it is also quite common for the plate heat exchanger to become restricted with scale overtime, this would also contruite to restricted flow.

A few options I would probably think it was the plate heat exchanger
