Making a porch at home

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.31 PM

At my home I have an outside cupboard which is roughly a meter out and it’s covered with a slopes roof. I am considering making is an enclosed porch where I can move my front door forward. The cupboard will form an indoor cupboard for storage which is currently single skin with gas and electricity meters. I’ll get the meters moved but with the cupboard it’s single skin. Would I be able to insulate it with out having to make a double skin wall with insulation? Possibly fit insulated plasterboard or similar?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. You can screw 50x50mm stud timber at 400mm centre then insert 50mm KINGSPAN insulation between the studs then foilback plasterboard on top.
