What to relay in patio for Gym use

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.31 PM

My entire garden is old concrete paving slabs I have put some gym equipment in the garden ontop of rubber stall mats. Unfortunately the concrete paving slabs underneath are cracking. What do you recomend material/method to to relay that part of patio garden for gym use? Or something that will protect existing concrete slabs?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi I would suggest a concrete pad if it’s only being used for sports equipment or install a soft safety surface if cost is not so important.

Remove the slabs and lay concrete then in the future you dont want to use it for gym equipment then you can relay slabs

Firstly, I would need to carry out a Survey of your existing Patio to see how stable it is. It is possible to utilise the existing Patio as a foundation for putting New slabs on "But" this can only be done provided the New slabs are 6"(150mm) below any existing Damp course, hence the Survey required to ascertain Regards on behalf of Country Property Maintenance)

If the gym equipment is going to be there for a long time I would replace the slabs with a reinforced 3/4" concrete slab.
