Mixer lever tap facing in wrong direction after cartridge change? Kitchen sink.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.31 PM

Hi, I have had to change the cartridge on my hot tap because it was leaking. However, the tap now faces in the wrong direction to turn it off. The levers should sit at either side normally, but now, the hot tap has to face forward in order to turn it off, almost touching the neck of the mixer. Why are cartridges not made in opposite directions when they come as a pair? Any advice to remedy this problem would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

The cartridges are normally hot and hold ( left and right ) so you probably have a cold one . Hope this helps

Check the seat of the cartridges, the one on the left usually has a red washer ( to signify hot ) and the one on the right should be blue, this is presuming the taps have been correctly installed. I hope this helps. Cheers Jack

Taps such as these use ceramic disc valves, they operate in a clockwise / anti clockwise fashion, simple to resolve in reversing valves.
