Install Bedroom Wall Lights - Wiring Dilemma

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.56 PM

I would like to install 2 x wall lights either side of our bed. They have switches, so would loop 1.5mm cable between the lights and feed to the permanent live. But it seems the permanent live only goes to the ceiling rose in the bathroom and the other 4 lights on this floor spur off it, and so no room to wire in the cable for these wall lights. What's the best way to rearrange this please so i can add the cable for the wall lights? EDIT: should have checked the landing light first - can take feed from there. Further Edit : Thanks all, have sought advice from a local electrician.

If you have sockets near you can install a fused spur outlet and wire the lights from that. For peace of mind call a local electrician to give you guidance and to make sure all is safe to carry out the additional works.

You should call an electrician to have a look into it for you.

Spur off a local socket but make sure it’s fused down via a switched fused spur.
