Plaster keeps falling off
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.55 PM
Hi i am asking can i buy a plaster that has flexibility? I know this sounds odd but i am having a repeated problem with plaster falling out of wall/ceiling. Please let me explain, the issue is in my bedroom it is where the gabel (outside) wall and ceiling meet. My bedroom is the result of a loft conversion in a bungalow the ceiling curves down at both ends of the room. I have filled this several times and you can imagine my frustration of if falling out each time.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Carlite bonding backing coat is best for adhesion and shaping, it can be shaped best just as its sets hard and sanded with fine sandpaper when fully set.
Hope this helps.

If it is a reasonably new loft conversion it is probably caused by the new timber behind still shrinking and moving.if it is a fine crack, rake it out and use some flexible filler, caulk.

There is probably two pronlems, one is u haven't sealed the place you've filled (PVA) which should always be done, an also if it's in corners or even on the walls it should be covered with skrim tape first, which will stop it cracking

On a curve ceiling you wil have to put bonding on first to get the shape because it is lighter than plaster. When dry cover over with finish plaster that should stop it falling out
