Garden Gazebo pitched roof 5:12 2.4mx3m

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Hello I’m building a gazebo with a pitched roof, I am at the point of installing the rise posts and ridge board, the rafters will overhang slightly so the length of each rafter will be 1300mm. Can you please advise what size timber would be best to use for posts, ridge board and rafters? Is 150x47 timber too large/heavy for ridge board? The 4 posts are 100x100 and concreted in the ground. Is there a rafter span I need to stick to? What’s the best way to join rise post with ridge board and ridge board with rafters? Thank you very very much, any advice will be greatly appreciated! Andi (sorry, first ever project of this sort)

Hi , we would probably recommend ridge board 6 x 1 inch . Rafters 6 x 2 . depending on the roof covering tiles slates etc post would probably be better being thicker . Not sure if your having just four corners or 2 posts in the middle of the 3 meter span . New build rafter centers are 300 mil / 24" . 18" may be better center to center . You need a 4x2 wall plate on top of the posts to carry the 6x2 spas . hope this helps with our interpretation of your project .
