Hi there,doing my driveway dug all my front garden

Hi, doing my driveway done 250mm deep. Then i was walking in the middle just stepped in a soft soil tried to removed the soil its creating a hole about 100mm radius I quite long. Any idea what is this? And what is the solution. No manhole in my driveway only in the back garden. Thanks you for the answer.

Hi yes you’ve just hit a soft spot best to excavate extra in that area until you get firmer soil layer,

Where ur digging soft is it line with a water meter on public pathway.
Remember u have gas ,electric, water mostly going there , thus could cause soft ground.
But like the other comment , dig down , fill that with mot , recycled crush,

I would assume that there is a damage pipe with small hole which has created a void, I would suggest digging down to find the pipe to asses the damage, then depending on the state of pipe you can decide the most viable action

You can dig deeper down until you hit hard soil then back fill wive a concrete foundation that will give you stronger foundation
