New Patio against neighbors fence

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Just had 40m2 of garden porcelain tiles fitted in garden (after removing lawn and having MOT1 laid). Planning on having a soakaway fitted away from the house where the tiles finish (towards back fence of the house). Question is, my neighbour (who's always got something to say) said that the tiles shouldn't have been laid all the way to his side of the fence-because it will cause his garden to flood from my garden. He said my garden was suscebtable to flooding and with the new tiles fitted against his fence this would cause his garden to flood more? 2 Questions, 1-Will I have to "create" a gap between the floor tiles and neighbours fence, with shingles etc...He suggested building Regs states I need 300mm gap between my tiles and the fence/or have a row of bricks fitted in 2-What is the most cost effective way of creating a drainage location at the end of the tiles? Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi dear Sir Madam First think,To have a porcelain patio tile that means you are spending some money, You should have a solid base ,there is required 70mm Mot 1 & at list 50mm concrete base , Second think is a soakoway has to be 5m a way from the building. About neighborhood 🤔,all patios required a slotted drainage against to bifoldoors if patio is higher then damp corse ,and slope against to house, If patio is 2corse below damp then you put drainage in the end of paving connect into soakoway. So that if patio slope’s in this two direction don’t worry about neighbors .

Hi, Thank you for your question, if the slabs have been laid properly then water should not flood next doors garden. This of course would mean that the slabs have been laid to face diverting your neighbours fence. Hope this answers your question! Thank you
