Damp Proofing

Condensation Problems, leading to mould growth

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

Five or six years ago, I had my flat replastered and had ceiling spot lights fitted in each room. The past couple of years, I have experienced problems in my bedroom as condensation is now a problem and I now have bad damp patches on my ceiling, mainly in two corners! I seeked advice from an insulation company who informed me that due to the ceiling spot lights being fitted, the electrician moved the insulation in the loft so that it doesn't cause a fire if the spot lights over heated. Can anyone confirm that this is the case and what would I need to do to remedy this, so I can redecorate. Many thanks Graham

loft insulation is fire resistant, every attic in the country has insulation over there electric wires.if the damp is in the corners it might be your roof or guttering.if it was condensation the damp patches would be black

hi there they would have moved the insulation to stop the fitting over heating and the bulbs constantly blowing also if the fitting did catch fire it could burn the timbers, you need low energy bulbs then insulate around the fitting but not above it,advice probably too late now just seen date of advice regards Joseph
