What protection can I use on new engineered wood flooring to avoid water drip marks
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.09 PM
I have just a had a new engineered wood floor installed in the downstairs of my house, including the kitchen. Its Oak, natural brushed Oiled. Ive noticed that if a water droplet falls on the floor and isnt cleaned immediately it leaves a white mark which appears to be permanent. I would like to know if there is a protection I can use on the floor to stop this and if so which once would be more suitable and most effective. Many thanks.

The good prediction is to put 2 or three coats of clear varnish Matt

Hi there
You shouldn’t need to put anything on the floor it’s pre oiled .
Oiled gives it a more natural look not as hard wearing as polyurethane finishes,
You need to rub wood oil not varnish into the white watermarks in the grain of the wood leave to dry then buff with a dry cloth

NO VARNISH
Oiled floors should be treated directly after installation and once a year thereafter. Oiled floor can be freshened up when the wood floor becomes hard to clean or if the surface gets scratched or dull.
To clean floor make sure that cleaning product has got no acid in it.
