Washer won't work could it be washer plug? Model Hoover one touch

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.08 PM

Before I call out a washing machine engineer. Usually with the Hoover 'One Touch' when you start the machine you'll get lights on the control panel. The day it wouldn't start the lights were on then suddenly nothing. Usually if There is a fault on the machine the machine sends a lighted up green message showing 'error'. i wonder could the problem be with the fuse in the machines plug. Hard to see as the cable is at the back of the units and access means pulling machine out from under unit and worktop. The wall power switch fuse has been checked but as I can't get to the socket at the back of unit hard to say if it's a simple problem of fuse in the machines plug. Before I spend out on expensive callout charges I think I'd like to check this out first. And as I have no one handy to pull the machine out for me hard to know what to do. I need someone to rule out or rule in that it definitely is an issue with the machine plug

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If it is the fuse in the plugtop, then the washer is duff anyway, as fuses don’t blow for no reason. The engineer would have to pull the machine out anyway to diagnose fault so it could be checked for power then.

Indeed as previous reply, if fuse has blown something drastic has happened. Firstly need to work out if socket behind has power (socket outlets do fail). If fuse has blown, some component will have failed - dismantling of the machine will be necessary by someone used to working in white goods. Most parts will be replaceable, but weigh up cost of labour and the parts versus a new machine and a guarantee! Perhaps get a quote just for someone to figure out if power is at the socket in the first instance.

If the fuse in the plug has blown there will be a reason for it (washer fault). Though if you have a modern comsumer unit with circuit breakers and rcd’s they would likely trip before the plug fuse blew. If all your sockets etc are working then it appears to be a fault of n your washer. It could be something simple and n the plug but whatever you need a device engineer to investigate
