Power supply to shed via duct

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.29 PM

Looking to get power to shed, it’s around 45m away, what would I need to be looking at to run a tube light and a couple of double sockets, for kettle maybe and charging a drill battery, could I get away with a heavy duty extension lead ? Thanks

You require an electrician in to do some cable calculations and load calculations ( not assume the load) check the earthing and bonding on your property, to determine the size of cable you require. Please note, this is not a DIY job, and using an extension lead is just asking for trouble. However, if you want to proceed I can’t stop you.

well you could get away with it as you say .but i would not recommend it Instead I would have a professional look at it , and you would need an armoured cable and really running to a separate fuse. Like i say ask for an electrician I'm a roofer plasterer so this is my advice , thanks Darren

Armoured cable plus size needed would need to be done via calculation unfortunately this cannot be done by a DIY-er or a Handyman it has to be done for safety reasons by a qualified electrician. Using a extension lead is not advisable.

Short answer is no. You will not pass an electrical installation condition report by burying duct which contains extension cable.
