Do I fill in holes before the rooms get skimmed?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.29 PM
I took off some ancient features like picture rail, skirting etc. Unfortunately despite being careful holes were made in the wall, mostly where the nails sat. I have a plasterer coming in a few weeks to skim some rooms so I'm just wondering if he will be in for a nasty surprise if he sees these holes? Should I fill them in and sand them down?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I prefer to do my own prep work.
Holes can be done as prep work.
I think most plasterers would agree with this.

They will need to be filled with bonding or another undercoat. He will probably be expecting the odd bit to fill up so I wouldn't worry.

Better leave them as there maybe an underlying problem. There’s several reasons for plaster to blow and the solutions vary a little. Hope this helps

No of course not. Don't worry about it most plssterers carry a bag of bonding which would fill any deep holes before the re skim . You would have it sorted in no time and certainly save the customer fro doing it.
