How to add fencing

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.29 PM

I have fencing up, it's a gapped wood fencing, but I just want to put some fence panels over them so I don't have a gapped fence, can I just buy the panels and screw them to fence I already have, many thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you wanted to cover the gapped fencing with solid fencing then I think feather board would be best so if you sub structure is ok you could fix straight to the existing fence

Hi following your question that shouldn’t be a problem just try and get fence panels that have an edging on the sides as well as the top and bottom so you can screw them together to stop them twisting thanks Pat

It depends on if you want the panels to sit in between the posts and if your current fence is recessed back from the front edge of the posts usually if you have the premade panels they would sit in between the posts, if the existing fence is all good maybe think about feather edge not forgetting a gravel board below I hope that’s some help (-:

Would depend how your posts are, as they might not be strong enough to support the extra weight 👍🏻

If the current fence is solid enough (no movement) just attach Featheredge boards to it and will cover over nicely all look uniform and no gaps. The Featheredge is relatively light just needs to be well held if it open to high winds

Aslong as the posts are level it shouldn’t be an issue, I recommend close board panels as they are easy on the eye and if any cuts are needed to be made it’s easily done

If the structure of the original fence is strong then the answer is yes, close board of feather board would be better than whole panels
