Fused & Non Fused spurs
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.48 PM
Hi All. Can anyone please help me to clarify the following questions. 1. How many FUSED SPURS I can take from one single double socket (ring main) 2. How many NON-FUSED SPURS I can take from one single double socket (ring main) 3. When moving the location of existing socket, can I extend the wire using connector blocks and bury it inside the plaster. Thanks you and much appreciated your answers

The answer to both your first and second question is one. The difference is that in a non fused you can only wire out to a single socket. Beyond a fused spur you can have as many sockets as you want but the fuse limits the capacity of those sockets which is designed to prevent overload of the capacity of the cable and therefore fires. Final question all joints have to be accessible unless you use maintenance free joint boxes, such as Wago, the blocks you are suggesting will fail at some point with consequences and are non-compliant.

Seriously get an electrician in to do the work for you. What you are asking sounds very dangerous and under NO circumstances extend the wires using connector block and bury in the plaster. Any decent electrician will extend the ring main properly for you and add fused spurs as appropriate keeping within the guidance of the regulations.

Would rather not give advice as this is a skilled and specialist area - probably best to call out an electrician
