Resetting concrete fence post?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.48 PM
Fence loose, blowing in the wind I've got a 10 foot fence in the back of my garden, and with all the wind It's a big, concrete post that seems to have moved as I can't close my gate properly either. I'm just wondering what the best approach would be for setting the post. Should i dig around it and pour some new concrete? I really don't want to take the fence down because it's huge. In general it's in good condition.

yes you could dig around the post and 're concrete it.
I would also put another post in near to the other and get it in the ground as deep as you can because if the fence is 10ft high the post will want to be in the ground at least 3ft.

First check weather the concrete post has already been concreted in when put in, if so remove the old concrete first.
Dig around post and about a foot underneath, you want to use around 2 bags of post mix.
Make sure post is level and gate can shut before doing the above.

You really need to get the old concrete out. That'll probably be quite a job, ideally you would hire a breaker but that may not be possible at the moment. When it is out make sure the post is far enough in the ground (around 3ft) and then set it back in with new concrete.

Hi. Seems unlikely that the concrete post has moved. I would be looking at the conditions of the fence and gate itself.i would imagine there's an easier solution than digging out a concrete post, but Without looking it's hard to tell for sure.
